Hodge Adds Four Former North Texas Coaches To His Coaching Staff

Jason Martinez 

Jason Martinez has been named Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. Martinez spent last season with the North Texas Mean Green under the leadership of Hodge, as North Texas won 27 games to advance to the semifinals of NIT. North Texas won 19 games in his first season (2023-24) and reached the second round of the NIT.

Mike Randle

Assistant coach Mike Randle comes to West Virginia after spending the last two years at North Texas. Randle joined the North Texas staff after spending one season at Southeastern Louisiana, where he helped the Lions to 18 wins and a top three finish in the Southland Conference, finishing the season at 12-6.

Prior to his time at North Texas, Randle spent the 2021-22 season at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida, as an assistant coach, helping his team to 28 wins, a conference championship, seven all-conference selections. Randle has 11 years of coaching experience.

Sean McClurg

Sean McClurg was hired as the Director of Video. McClurg spent last season with North Texas under Ross Hodge. Before his time at North Texas, McClurg served as an assistant coach at Queens for two seasons under head coach Grant Leonard. McClurg helped lead Queens into the Division I era with 18 wins for the 2022-23 season. Prior to his time at Queens, McClurg was on staff at New Mexico State for four years under Chris Jans.

During his time at New Mexico State, the Aggies went to the NCAA Tournament twice and won 25 or more games three times. In the 2022 NCAA Tournament, New Mexico upset No.5 UConn in the first round.

Jase Herl

Jase Herl was hired as an assistant coach. Herl spent the last two seasons at North Texas under Ross Hodge. Before Herl was a member of the North Texas coaching staff, he was at Missouri State, where he helped guide the Bears to 17 or more wins in each of his last three seasons. From 2016-18, Herl was an assistant coach at Colorado State and served as the iterim head coach for the Rams.
