Lake, a junior, began his successful week by earning a bronze medal in the 50-meter rifle prone event. His score of 624.6 was just enough to land him a spot on the podium and give the U.S. its first medal.
Even with a new bronze medal to his collection, Lake still wasn’t satisfied. On Friday, he competed in the 50-meter three-position event. Once again, he showcased his skills, finishing in seventh place with a score of 401.7.
Already with two appearances in the finals, Lake added a third with the 10-meter air rifle event on Saturday. With a final score of 176, Lake finished the event in fifth place.
Wiseman and Ogoreuc Shine
While Lake displayed his excellence throughout the Junior World Cup, he was not the only representative of West Virginia who found success.
Fellow Mountaineers Jacob Wiseman and Jack Ogoreuc also competed in the same three individual events.

Wiseman, a junior, finished with a total score of 574 in the three-position qualifier. Alongside his 24 shots in the center, he completed the event in 41st place. In the 10-meter air rifle qualifier, he finished in 58th place with a score of 618.3.
The 50-meter prone was his best event of the week, earning him 10th overall with a total score of 620.5.
Ogoreuc, a freshman, tied Wiseman’s total of 574 in the same event. However, his 21 shots in the center placed him just behind Wiseman at 42nd. He followed that up with a 47th-place finish in the 10-meter air rifle with a final score of 620.7. In the 50-meter prone, his total score of 606.6 was good enough to land him at 45th.
What’s Next
While Wiseman and Ogoreuc have wrapped up their events, Lake will compete in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event on Sunday. He will look to continue his impressive week by trying to add another top finish to his resume.
