WVU improves to 10-2 with another double-digit victory
Following a pair of losses to Ohio State and Villanova, the Mountaineers have responded with four straight double-digit victories. The team’s latest triumph includes a 63-45 victory over Texas A&M

Early on, the Aggies kept it close, with the teams battling to a 14-14 tie after the game’s opening 10 minutes of action. However, WVU seized control of the game for good over the middle two quarters.
They outscored Texas A&M by a 35-22 margin, including a 19-9 advantage in the third quarter. WVU followed that up by allowing just nine points in the final frame en route to its 10th victory of the season.
Four players reached double figures for the Mountaineers. Kierra Wheeler guided the offense with 16 points and 10 rebounds, marking the fourth time this season she has finished with a double-double.
Jordan Harrison and Gia Cooke contributed 13 points apiece, and Sydney Shaw added 11 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
The Mountaineers’ defense held the Aggies to 34 percent shooting overall and just 21 percent from beyond the arc. WVU also outrebounded its opponent 39-29 and converted 24 turnovers into 20 points.
With the win, WVU improved to 31-3 in non-conference play over the past three seasons.
Houston uses a late push in its come-from-behind win against Montana
After suffering consecutive losses to Southern and New Mexico, the Cougars ended their two-game skid with a 60-54 victory against Montana.
Despite their 2-7 record, the Lady Griz trailed by just three points at the break and built a seven-point lead with 4:09 left to play. But Houston managed to turn things around down the stretch.
Behind a solid defensive effort, the Cougars finished the game with a 17-4 burst, securing their sixth win of the 2025-26 campaign. Only two players reached double figures for Houston. Briana Peguero led the way with 14 points, five rebounds, and two assists. TK Pitts scored 11 points and collected 12 rebounds.
Neither team shot the ball efficiently, with each squad converting just 35 percent of its shot attempts.
