WVU is undefeated through six games following a double-digit win over McNeese State
The Mountaineers improved to 6-0 after posting an 83-63 win against the McNeese State Cowgirls on Monday afternoon.

The Mountaineers scored the first 14 points of the game before McNeese State trimmed the deficit to three points by the end of the opening quarter. But thanks to a 21-11 scoring edge in the second quarter, WVU took a 41-28 lead into the break, and the Cowgirls were unable to get any closer than that the rest of the way.
WVU’s offense was balanced, with all five starters finishing with double-digit scoring totals. Gia Cooke put up 24 points and had three assists while going 6-for-9 from the field and 10-for-13 from the charity stripe.
Sydney Shaw added 14 points and three rebounds, connecting on two of her five attempts from 3-point range. Kierra Wheeler added 12 points, and Jordan Thomas and Jordan Harrison scored 10 points apiece.
WVU’s defense has been the major takeaway from their games this season. However, this matchup was won at the free-throw line. The Mountaineers converted 23 of their 30 attempts, while McNeese State made four of its six attempts.
Strong fourth quarter propels Buckeyes to double-digit win over Belmont
Following a 100-68 shellacking at the hands of the UConn Huskies, Ohio State enters this matchup riding a two-game winning streak. This includes a 68-56 victory against the Belmont Bruins.
Although the Buckeyes had the better record, Belmont kept things close, as the game was tied at 48 heading into the final frame. However, Ohio State began the fourth quarter on a 12-1 run and outscored its opponent by a decisive 20-8 margin en route to a 12-point win.
Three of the team’s starters reached double figures. Jaloni Cambridge scored 26 points while collecting six rebounds and two steals. Chance Gray finished with 17 points, connecting on five of her 10 attempts from 3-point range.
While OSU did not shoot the ball particularly well (35 percent), it did hold the Bruins to 33 percent shooting overall and converted 19 turnovers into 19 points.
WVU vs. Ohio State: Who has the edge?
The Mountaineers have been nearly automatic in non-conference play, and that trend will continue against the Buckeyes.
Prediction: West Virginia will improve to 7-0
