The Big 12 made a couple of announcements today ahead of the 2026-27 athletic seasons. They announced the regular-season Big 12 schedules, giving fans something to look forward to when spring rolls around. They also announced a regular-season conference champion for wrestling. Big 12 regular season schedule
The Mountaineers play 10, three-game series against Big 12 opponents from March until May. Every series, except three, is slated for Friday through Sunday. They open the conference schedule on March 19 against Houston at Schroeder Park in Houston, Texas.
West Virginia plays its first conference home series against the Kansas Jayhawks, beginning on March 25. It is one of three series beginning on Thursday and ending on Saturday because of Easter on March 28. It is also a rematch of last season’s Big 12 Baseball Tournament championship. The Jayhawks are reigning regular-season and tournament champions, which makes this series one worth circling on the calendar.

A trip to Orlando, Florida, follows the next weekend with a series against UCF at John Euliano Park. The Mountaineers return home for two consecutive weekends following the road trip. They play Arizona State, April 9-11, and Baylor, April 16-18, at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark in Morgantown. This is Arizona State’s first trip to Morgantown.
The following weekend, the Mountaineers travel to Provo, Utah, to play BYU in another Thursday-Saturday series. As the calendar turns to May, WVU plays Cincinnati at home from April 30 to May 2. Arizona is slated next at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Arizona.
The Mountaineers return home for their final home series against Oklahoma State on May 14-16. The final series of the season for West Virginia is in Fort Worth, Texas, against TCU, May 20-22. WVU does not play Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Utah in conference play. The Big 12 Baseball Tournament starts on May 25 and runs through May 29 in Surprise, Arizona.
Big 12 wrestling announcement
The Big 12 conference announced it is adding a regular-season wrestling championship ahead of the 2026-27 season. The regular season champion will be the team with the highest winning percentage in conference dual meets. No tiebreakers mean co-champions are possible.
This does not replace the Big 12 Wrestling Championship, held annually in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in March. The conference has not named a regular season champion since the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
Nine schools make up Big 12 Wrestling. They include four full-time members who sponsor wrestling: Arizona State, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia. The other five schools are affiliate members: Missouri, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma, Utah Valley, and Wyoming.
