Of course, these numbers are only as up to date as they are at the time of publication. Some games will soar, others will tank.

Regardless, it serves as a good check of the pulse around the conference, and a way to see how WVU stacks up in terms of demand. The number of games have dwindled again, with conference play in full swing.

A quick reminder on the ground rules;

  • Prices as of 10 a.m. Thursday, October 1
  • Using SeatGeek, given its partnership with WVU Athletics

Here we go.

Where the Mountaineers stand

Shockingly, this week’s contest is WVU’s first true road game of the season. It comes after the Mountaineers were humbled at home in front of a raucous crowd by Oklahoma State, 41-24.

Now, all eyes go to Ames, Iowa, as WVU aims to bounce back with a win at Iowa State. Unlike prices in Morgantown last week, this game has the cheapest get-in price yet among Mountaineer games. Between a rebuilding ISU program, the 850+ miles separating the schools, and an 11 a.m. local start time, its demand has an uphill battle. It is not a matchup that has “must attend” written all over it.

The cheapest ticket for Saturday’s showdown clocks in at $27. That is $7 cheaper than the recorded price for the previous holder of that title (Week 2 against UT Martin – $34).

Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. EST from Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. The game is airing on TNT and TruTV, as well as streaming on HBO Max.

Saturday slate

Six other games are on the Big 12 schedule Saturday, with all but one counting in conference play.

  • No. 20 Houston vs. UCF: $19 – TDECU Stadium (12 p.m. on ESPN2) | Houston, Texas
  • Kansas vs. Middle Tennessee State: $57 – David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium (12 p.m. on ESPNU) | Lawrence, Kansas
  • TCU vs. No. 10 BYU: $33 – Amon G. Carter Stadium (7 p.m. on ESPN/Disney+) | Fort Worth, Texas
  • Colorado vs. No. 12 Texas Tech: $69 – Folsom Field (7:30 p.m. on FOX) | Boulder, Colorado
  • Arizona State vs. Baylor: $20 – Mountain America Stadium (10:30 p.m. on ESPN) | Tempe, Arizona
  • Arizona vs. Cincinnati: $32 – Casino Del Sol Stadium (11 p.m. on FOX) | Tucson, Arizona

The average get-in price around the conference for Week 5, not counting WVU, is $38.33 (-$1.92 from Week 4).

Mountaineer money

After being the most expensive game on the slate last week, WVU sits in the middle of the pack here. The Mountaineers are sitting at fourth-most expensive out of seven (third cheapest, depending on how you look at the world).
