Mountaineers win multiple events at WVU Last Chance

WVU hosted several teams in Morgantown at The Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park for the WVU Last Chance meet. It is the final meet of the regular season, with the Big 12 Outdoor Championships beginning on Thursday, May 14, in Tucson, AZ. The Mountaineers also celebrated their seniors with Senior Day. Senior Day

WVU celebrated its seniors before the final home meet of the season. There are seven seniors in total, ending their careers at the conclusion of this season.

The seniors recognized include Eva Rinker, Tatiana Moura, Annishka McDonald, Sierra Heisey, Emily Bryce, Mary Delaney, and Olivia Cress. They were recognized between the first and twilight sessions.

Results

Lily Haught won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.11. That sparked the Mountaineers’ momentum. She placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 25.48. Pitt’s Alma Evuna Eki won with a time of 24.72. Izayah Everrett took home third for WVU with a time of 25.73. Eva Craigie and Sierra Heisey were the other Mountaineers competing in the event. They placed fourth (25.95) and sixth (27.11), respectively.

The women’s 400 meters was the next event the Mountaineers competed in. Audrey Thomas finished third with a time of 1:00.79. WVU had several distance runners compete in the women’s 800 meters. Mary Delaney won the event with a time of 2:10.62, and Aislinn Frazier placed second at 2:14.01. Eva Rinker finished fifth with a time of 2:17.78, and Audrey Hall placed sixth, coming in at 2:19.41.

That concluded the running events for WVU, and left only the high jump and long jump. Annishka McDonald won the women’s high jump with a 1.70m jump. Olivia Cress placed second with a jump of 1.65m. Craigie finished second in women’s long jump, with a jump of 5.59m. Sabria Jones placed fourth at 5.40m.

What’s next?

The Mountaineers return to action on May 14 through 16. The Big 12 Outdoor Championships are in Tucson, Arizona, so that WVU will compete for Big 12 honors. The NCAA East Preliminary Regional follows, and it is scheduled for May 26-30. It is in Lexington, Kentucky.
