In what was a terrible loss to Ohio last week, West Virginia might have suffered an even bigger loss to the season. Read more: New Reports Suggest WVU Might Lose Star RB Jahiem White for the Season
Star running back Jaheim White went down with an apparent knee injury late in the second quarter, and new reports are saying he might be out for the rest of the season.
The Report
CBS Sports college football reporter Matt Zenitz provided an update on his X account on Sept. 8.

The Potential Impact
If these reports are true, it would be a significant loss for the Mountaineers.
White entered this season with a lot of hype swirling around him. Coming off back-to-back 800-plus rushing yard seasons, White earned a spot on the Maxwell Award watch list for this season. That award is given to the top player each year.
Before his departure in the Ohio game, White had already garnered 40 yards on the ground to go along with WVU’s only touchdown.
With head coach Rich Rodriguez’s heavy run-scheme, White was primed to have a breakout season. This was also going to be his first season as the premier back, since that role was previously held by CJ Donaldson, who transferred to Ohio State.
Jaden Bray Update
White was not the only injury the Mountaineers sustained against Ohio. Wide receiver Jaden Bray also had to be carted off late in the game.
At the time of writing this, there have been no new reports about Bray’s status for the year. However, early indications are showing he might face the same fate as White.

If that’s the case, that will be another huge loss to WVU’s offense. Bray, who is no stranger to season-ending injuries, was poised to have a comeback year after an early-season leg injury forced him to sit out the remainder of the 2024 season.
If Bray is also forced to sit out the rest of the year, that will have a huge impact on the Mountaineers’ passing attack. In just the two games he played in a West Virginia jersey, he proved that he could be a reliable second option alongside Cam Vaughn.
More To Come
It’s important to remember that these are just the initial reports on White. It’s still early, and more news is sure to come out.
The same goes for Bray, as we are still completely unaware of his status.
