Coach Kellogg will discuss the upcoming season and the remarkable transformation of the Mountaineers program.
Kellogg, entering his third season at the helm of WVU women’s basketball, has established himself as one of the nation’s premier coaches with a career record of 495-136 (.784), ranking him as the seventh-winningest active Division I women’s basketball coach by winning percentage.
Kellogg’s Success
In just two seasons at West Virginia, Kellogg has made history. He led the Mountaineers to consecutive 25-win seasons. That was the first time in program history the team has achieved this milestone. The 50 total wins during his first two seasons represent the third-most wins in any two-season stretch in program history and the best two-year start by any head coach in WVU women’s basketball.

The Mountaineers have reached the NCAA Tournament in both of Kellogg’s seasons, advancing to the second round each year and earning national rankings in every AP Top 25 poll. Under his leadership, JJ Quinerly became a two-time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time AP All-American, and the program’s 11th WNBA draft pick.
Before arriving in Morgantown, Kellogg compiled an impressive 195-55 record at Stephen F. Austin over eight seasons, leading the Ladyjacks to six consecutive postseason appearances and earning both Southland and WAC Conference Coach of the Year honors. His overall career includes 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, 14 seasons with 25 or more wins, and zero losing seasons.
WVU’s commitment to Kellogg and the program’s future is evident in his recently extended contract, which keeps him with the Mountaineers through 2030, with potential automatic extensions that could extend through 2032.
During today’s appearance on The John Fredericks Show, Coach Kellogg is expected to preview the upcoming season and discuss the program’s continued growth as one of the premier women’s basketball programs in the Big 12 Conference.
