Jesus Gomez kicked a game-winning field goal for the second week in a row, and Arizona State moved to 2-0 in the Big 12 by besting TCU 27-24 in Tempe.
The Sun Devils (4-1, 2-0 Big 12) overcame a 17-point first half deficit after TCU (3-1, 0-1) scored on three of its first four possessions. Arizona State hurt its cause with one poor punt and a turnover on downs, setting the Frogs up with short fields.
Arizona State’s defense turned things around entirely in the second half. TCU’s final four possessions managed a mere three yards, and the Frogs punted twice, fumbled and threw an interception. The fumble proved particularly ill-timed, as Arizona State took over on the TCU 15 with under two minutes left in a tie game. TCU still had a chance after Gomez’s kick, but promptly threw an interception to seal their defeat.

Cougars Escape Oregon State, Stay Perfect
Houston scored two touchdowns in the final six minutes to force overtime, then stopped Oregon State on a 4th-and-1 to claim a 27-24 win in Corvallis.
The Cougars (4-0) looked like they’d fall short against the winless Beavers (0-5), but got Connor Wiegman going when it mattered most. Wiegman threw a 27-yard touchdown to Stephon Johnson and a 50-yard strike to Tanner Koziol in the final six minutes, tying the game.

Oregon State still had a chance in regulation, but the Cougars blocked their game-winning field goal attempt. The Beavers outgained Houston 390-352, but the Cougars scored the final 17 points.

Cyclones Blow Away Arizona
Iowa State scored three touchdowns off of short fields, and the Cyclones were never challenged in a 39-14 win over Arizona in Ames.
The Cyclones (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) started two second-quarter possessions inside the Arizona 40 and scored touchdowns both times. The Wildcats (3-1, 0-1) set up Arizona State with an interception and a punt from inside the Arizona 15. Arizona further hurt its cause with a failed fourth-down attempt, giving Iowa State another drive that started on the Wildcats’ side of the field.

Once again, the Cyclones hit the end zone. Four Iowa State scoring drives began at midfield or closer, despite just two Arizona turnovers. While the Arizona offense was only outgained 399-360, that had more to do with the Cyclones just not having that far to go.
Iowa State will visit Cincinnati on Saturday. Arizona will host Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Cougars Survive Buffaloes
BYU overcame a two-touchdown deficit behind two Bear Bachmeier touchdown passes, and the Cougars earned a 24-21 survival of a win over Colorado in Boulder.

Chase Roberts caught both touchdown passes for BYU (4-0, 1-0 Big 12). The Cougars had multiple chances to finish off the Buffaloes (2-3, 0-2), but missed a field goal and couldn’t avoid punting the ball back to Colorado. But the Buffaloes were even worse down the stretch, punting twice and throwing an interception to seal their fate.
The Buffaloes visit TCU on Saturday. BYU will host West Virginia in Provo on Friday.
Bearcats Outlast Jayhawks
Brendan Sorsby drove Cincinnati 75 yards in 76 seconds, and the Bearcats outlasted a wild shootout with Kansas, winning 37-34 in Lawrence.
Cincinnati (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) piled up 603 yards in the win, alternating between long, grind-it-out possessions and quick-strike scores. The Bearcats only touched the ball four times in the second half, but scored on three of those possessions. Cincinnati’s efficiency proved crucial, as Kansas (3-2, 1-1) got four touchdown passes and 445 passing yards out of Jalon Daniels.
Kansas gained 597 yards, but committed the game’s only turnover. The Jayhawks’ first fourth-quarter possession ended in a goal-line fumble, allowing Cincinnati to hold the lead. Even though the Bearcats punted, the extra time proved costly for the Jayhawks’ comeback attempt.
Kansas will travel to Central Florida on Saturday. Cincinnati will host Iowa State.
Wildcats Force Three Turnovers in Win
Dylan Edwards rushed for 166 yards and Kansas State cruised to a 34-20 win over Central Florida in Manhattan.
The Wildcats (2-3, 1-1 Big 12) put the Knights (3-1, 0-1) to bed late in the third quarter, following a Central Florida field goal. On K-State’s first play, Edwards raced 75 yards, building a three-touchdown lead and blunting any momentum for the Knights.
Central Florida turned the ball over three times, handing the Wildcats one score and allowing K-State to kick its way out of danger another time.
Kansas State travels to Baylor on Saturday. Central Florida will host Kansas.
Robertson, Baylor Soar Past Cowboys
Sawyer Robertson tossed four touchdown passes, and Baylor kept the losses coming for Oklahoma State in a 45-27 win in Stillwater.
Oklahoma State (1-3, 0-1 Big 12) showed some fight on offense, but that wasn’t the Cowboys’ problem under Gundy. The defense remains unfixed, and Robertson showed it might be unfixable in 2025. He threw for 393 yards, and the Bears (3-2, 1-1) were never in danger of defeat.
Baylor will host Kansas State Saturday. Oklahoma State travels to Arizona.
