In this edition, I will begin highlighting the top performances of the week and name a Mountaineer Summer League and MiLB Player of the week.
Players I missed last week
First, there are several players I did not include in my list last week that are currently on Summer League rosters. Those players are:
- JT Huether – Richmond Flying Mummies (Northwoods League)
- Weston Mazey – Richmond Flying Mummies (Northwoods League)
- Maxwell Molessa – Richmond Flying Mummies (Northwoods League)
- Colton Sims – Richmond Flying Mummies (Northwoods League)
- David Hagen – Wilmar Stingers (Northwoods League)
- Jackson Ingram – Staunton Braves (Valley League)
- Joshua Surigao – Bourne Braves (Cape Cod League)
- Hudson Cavallo – Bristol Blues (New England League)
- JD Costanzo – Bristol Blues (New England League)
- Bryant Yoak – Ocean State Waves (New England League)

Gavin Kelly makes USA National Team
Before turning to this week’s regular updates, current WVU Baseball second baseman and catcher Gavin Kelly has officially made the USA Collegiate National Team, as announced Sunday.
Kelly and 52 other top collegiate baseball players in the nation participated in workouts, practices, and scrimmages over the past few weeks. Following the annual Stars vs Stripes series, the group was narrowed down to a final 28-man roster.
The USA Collegiate National Team now heads to Taiwan to compete in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship. The tournament will take place from July 11-15.
Kelly is only the second Mountaineer to make the USA Collegiate National Team. The first was former WVU standout and current St. Louis Cardinal JJ Wetherholt in 2023.

Overall, Kelly had a successful sophomore year with WVU, filled with many accolades, including First-Team All-American and All-Big 12 First-Team honors. He is considered a top prospect for the 2027 MLB Draft, with some outlets anticipating him to be the No. 1 overall pick.
Gavin Kelly will join the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Summer League once he completes his time with Team USA.
Summer League appearances
In the Appalachia League, five players on WVU Baseball’s roster this past season compete, but only three made appearances this week.
Creed Erdos competed with the Pulaski River Turtles, while Matthew Robaugh and Weston Smith competed with the Bluefield Ridge Runners.
The two teams met in a four-game series this week, with the River Turtles winning the series 3-1.
Erdos had an impressive performance on Friday, racking up four hits and three RBI. He added another hit and RBI in Sunday’s contest.
Robaugh, through two appearances, had two hits and one RBI. Smith pitched 1.1 innings.
In the Cape Cod league, three are rostered, with two making appearances this week. Armani Guzman was in action for the Chatham Anglers while Matt Ineich competed as a part of the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
Ineich and Guzman both had a good week. In three games, Ineich had three hits and four RBI. Guzman appeared in four games and had four hits and three RBI.
Finally, in the MLB Draft League, Luke Lyman and Carson Estridge are with the West Virginia Black Bears, and both pitched this week.
Lyman appeared in two games, pitched two total innings, and allowed only one run. Estridge appeared in one game and pitched two scoreless innings.
Top MiLB performers
There are currently eighteen former Mountaineers listed on MiLB rosters. The top five performers of the week are listed below.
Paul McIntosh, catcher for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs of the Philadelphia Phillies organization, is the only Triple-A representative this week.
McIntosh recorded four hits, two RBI, and one homer across four appearances this past week.
McIntosh played for WVU from 2019 to 2021 and was named to the 2019 All-Big 12 Second Team.
Next up, representing the Hudson Valley Renegades of the New York Yankees organization, is first baseman Kyle West.
West had a consistent week across five games, recording four hits, six RBI and a homer. West leads the team in home runs and RBI.
The West Virginia native played for WVU from 2024-2025 and was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team in 2025.
Jack Kartsonas, pitcher for the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the Tampa Bay Rays organization, is the next top performer.
Throughout two games, Kartsonas pitched 4.2 innings, allowed 3 hits, recorded 8 strikeouts, and was the winning pitcher on Friday. His season record is 5-3.
Kartsonas played his final year of eligibility at WVU in 2025 and was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.
Another standout pitcher this past week was Robby Porco, who plays for the Great Lakes Loons of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.
Porco made two appearances, pitching a total of 3.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. He also received the win on Thursday, bringing his record to 3-0.
Porco was a member of the Mountaineers from 2023 to 2025 and was a one-time Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.
The last player on this weeks list is Skylar King, outfielder for the Salem RidgeYaks of the Boston Red Sox organization.
Skylar appeared in four games and recorded 4 hits, 4 RBI, and one homer. The homer came in Thursday’s game and landed the RidgeYaks three runs to take the lead.
King played three seasons at WVU from 2023 to 2025.
Players of the Week
Overall, the Mountaineers in the Summer Leagues and MiLB had some great moments this week.
For the Mountaineer Summer League Player of the Week, I am going to give it to Matt Ineich. Overall, he and Guzman both played great this week, but Ineich was just a tad more consistent.
The Mountaineer MiLB Player of the Week is another tough one, but I am going to reward consistency again and give it to Kyle West. Skylar King is definitely a close runner-up and had the moment of the week for sure.
