Get-in prices around the Big 12: Week 2

This past Thursday, we introduced a ticket-pricing series to get a feel for games in the Big 12 on a week-to-week basis. There is no need to waste time on getting into it. Read more: Get-in prices around the Big 12: Week 2. 

Of course, these numbers are only as up to date as they are at the time of publication. Some games will soar, others will tank.

Regardless, it serves as a good check of the pulse around the conference, and a way to see how WVU stacks up in terms of demand.

Where the Mountaineers stand

Saturday is Family Day at Milan Puskar Stadium! Between the ticket package deals for families, rain in the forecast, and an FCS opponent (UT Martin), demand is trending down compared to the Coastal Carolina game.

Prices start at $34 for the matchup against the Skyhawks, getting you the cheapest seat in the 60,000 capacity venue. Last week’s entry listed the get-in cost for the home opener at $62. Those tanked more closer to kickoff, so expect these to as well.

This chalks up the two-game average at $48 per ticket.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., with the game streaming on ESPN+. Tune in to 100.9 FM The Torch or any of its affiliate stations from 11 a.m. until game time to check out The Mountaineer Tailgate pregame show, hosted by Mitch Rogers.

Friday night lights

Kansas, for the second week in a row, is in the spotlight Friday. That spotlight is shining quite bright this time around, as the Jayhawks welcome No. 23 Missouri in a border-state showdown.

Between the close proximity and a storied history as rivals, the demand for this game is the second-highest across the Big 12 this week. To even get into the stadium, expect to shell out a minimum of $141 per ticket.

It was much cheaper to see the Jayhawks at home a week ago, when prices started at $20 for the game against Long Island.

Saturday slate

There are 13 other games featuring Big 12 teams, not counting WVU, on Saturday. One of them is an early in-conference matchup, and of the 12 non-conference games, the Big 12 schools is playing host to eight of them.

The average get-in price across Saturday’s schedule (not counting WVU) is $44.62 (+$0.52 from Week 1).

Mountaineer money

WVU’s afternoon affair against UT Martin clocks in as the sixth-cheapest game across all Big 12 contests. It was the opposite last week, as the home opener was the fifth-most expensive on the slate.

Most of that has to do with aforementioned factors of weather, opponent, and Family Day deals.

As you can presume, these numbers will not only vary in the days leading up to kickoff, but also on a week-to-week basis.
