MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WV Sports Nation and John Fredericks Media Network are proud to announce The Mountaineer Tailgate! This new endeavor for the brands marks the latest chapter in growing its respective footprints in the WVU Football coverage landscape. Targeted toward the everyday fan, The Mountaineer Tailgate will feature a more laid-back approach, just like the armchair quarterback you know and love at every tailgate you attend.
A big step for Mountaineer coverage
Columnist and Senior Writer for WV Sports Nation, Mitch Rogers, will serve as your host each week in the two hours leading up to every WVU game.

The WV Sports Nation team will also serve as a rotating panel. They will bring you all the information you need to know before the game, but in a more casual setting.
“As a WVU graduate and a Mountaineer fan, this is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time,” Rogers said. “There’s nothing like the atmosphere surrounding West Virginia football, and I want this show to capture that energy every Saturday by bringing fans, former players, and great conversations together before kickoff.”
Publisher John Fredericks said this is for the dedicated fans who want a down-to-earth approach to pregame coverage.
“We’re not interested in polished suits reading talking points from the press box,” John Fredericks said. “We’re taking Mountaineer football coverage out of the press box and into the parking lot. The Mountaineer Tailgate belongs to the fans who fill the stadium, fire up the grills, travel the country, and never stop believing. It’s raw, authentic, and built for Mountaineer nation. Before every WVU Football game, there’s a new rallying point — and it’s on the John Fredericks Media Network.”
COO of the JFMN Sports Division, Jack Fredericks, said the show creates a new opportunity to bring unique content to fans.
“The Mountaineer Tailgate with Mitch Rogers demonstrates what we do best, journalistic integrity combined with a fan’s perspective,” Jack Fredericks said. “We are incredibly excited for our pregame show to launch and to see what Mitch and the team has in store for us.”
Behind the scenes, WV Sports Nation Social Media Director and Marketing Director of the JFMN Sports Division Santana Withrow will be bringing you special guests and keeping the show on air. You can even get involved!
“We’re excited to bring a fresh perspective to Mountaineer fans,” Withrow said. “The Mountaineer Tailgate will be the fans’ pregame show, allowing fans to participate in a way that has never been done before.”
How to tune in
The first official show hits the airwaves and streaming at 10 a.m. EST on September 5, with WVU and Coastal Carolina battling it out for a Week 1 win. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. EST.
