Halftime Analysis
WVU takes a seven-point lead into halftime. Overall, the first two quarters of the Mountaineers’ 2025 season raise quite a bit of concern. Despite racking up 234 yards of offense, WVU only has 10 points to show for it.
The Mountaineers lost three fumbles in the second quarter, killing the team’s momentum on several occasions. Luckily for WVU, RMU has not been able to capitalize often.
The Colonials only managed to collect 81 yards of total offense in the first half. RMU quarterback Zach Tanner finished the half 6-15 for 61 yards. WVU’s defense was able to sack Tanner twice.
Nicco Marchiol has been the lone quarterback for WVU today. The Arizona native was efficient, completing 10 passes on 11 attempts. Marchiol also carried the ball six times for 36 yards, finding the pay dirt on a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter.
In what was widely-viewed as a guaranteed win by many, the Mountaineers have stunted their own success via turnovers. An important half of football awaits.
