The 2026 NBA Summer League is underway, and a trio of West Virginia alumni is gearing up in an attempt to earn NBA contracts. Read more: Mountaineers represented in the 2026 NBA Summer League.
Former WVU guard Treysen Eaglestaff is paired with former WVU forward Toby Okani on the New York Knicks summer league squad. Eric Stevenson is also participating in the summer league with the Denver Nuggets.
With multiple good performances, there is a chance any of them could earn an NBA contract. At the very least, a G League contract would be more likely.
Eaglestaff and Okani
After going undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft, Eaglestaff was picked up by the reigning NBA champs to join their summer league roster. After what many would say was a disappointing season at West Virginia last year, it was presumably shocking to some to see him get picked up by the NBA champions.
However, it is a huge honor for the Montana native. The 6’6 guard comes off averaging 9.8 points per game, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in his lone season with the Mountaineers.
While he did not show it consistently at West Virginia, Eaglestaff has the ability to be a solid three-level scoring threat. He possesses the necessary size as well to compete at the professional level.

Particularly if his three-point shot is hitting, Eaglestaff has the potential to rattle off some strong performances in the summer league. That would greatly impact his chances to continue his professional career.
Okani will also be sharing the court with him on the Knicks. The New Jersey native played one year at West Virginia in the 2024-25 season, where he averaged 8.2 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
Okani most recently played for the Knicks’ G League affiliate team, the Westchester Knicks. In 34 appearances, he averaged 5.6 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.
He also earned a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies last season, where he actually had a big impact for the team. In his debut game, he scored seven points and nabbed seven rebounds.
In the following game, he scored a career-high 20 points. He wrapped up those 10 games averaging 10 points, 3.5 rebounds, and one assist.
Stevenson prolongs NBA aspirations
The former WVU standout guard has had a lengthy professional career already filled with many different stops. So far, he has played for the Austin Spurs (G League), Texas Legends (G League), Cholet (LNB Pro A), Casademont Zaragoza (Liga ACB), and Manisa Basket (Turkish Basketbol Super Ligi).
Most recently, he is coming off a season with the Capital City Go-Go, the G League affiliate for the Washington Wizards. He finished the year averaging 14.7 points per game, 3.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds.
Stevenson has also been no stranger to the summer league in years past, notably with the San Antonio Spurs. Now, he has another opportunity with the Nuggets.
It has been tough for Stevenson to reach the NBA, despite strong scoring performances everywhere he goes. He did manage to earn a 10-day contract with the Wizards last season, but did not record any playing time.
He starts his summer league run with the Nuggets on July 10 at 6:30 p.m. EST against the Houston Rockets.
Okani and Eaglestaff also start on July 10 at 6 p.m. EST against the Spurs.
