What to expect

The Mountaineers have fared well in the Big 12 thus far, but their toughest test is their next game. Texas Tech is 16-0 this season, including a 61-60 victory over Baylor, which was ranked fifteenth at the time. The Lady Raiders offer a unique test for the Mountaineers. Their top three scorers are guards, which should create an intriguing matchup. WVU has elite defenders, especially at the guard position. Jordan Harrison has years of experience playing competitive games in the Big 12 and is averaging 2.4 steals per game. Sydney Shaw is in the same boat, averaging 2.7 steals per game.

The other challenge WVU must overcome is scoring. The Lady Raiders allow 52.1 points per game, which is the third-fewest in the nation. WVU is a top-25 offense, scoring 80.7 points per game, but they have had a few games with lower scoring. The outcome of their next three games could go a long way in determining WVU’s season.

They play on the road at tenth-ranked Iowa State on Sunday, January 11, and then face eighth-ranked TCU at home. These three games are the most brutal stretch of games they have had all season, and one or two victories should help them in March. Audi Crooks poses a tough matchup against Iowa State. She is the nation’s leading scorer at 29.1 points per game. They should discuss on the show how they plan to stop Crooks. Tune in to hear Coach Kellogg sit down with host Andrew Caridi and break down WVU women’s basketball.
