What to expect

Last week, they talked about recruiting and, more specifically, the importance of recruiting regionally. New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, the DMV, and West Virginia are all targets of recruiting for Hodge and his coaching staff. He wants to start in his backyard and work outward, since WVU is located close to major areas in the region. They recently added a four-star point guard for next season. Miles Sadler is a player who can immediately make an impact for the program as a scorer and defender.

The back-to-back losses in the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic tournament are certainly a topic of conversation. It was their second actual test after they handled business against Pitt at home earlier in the month. Both teams are ranked in the top 100 of KenPom’s rankings, with Clemson currently sitting at 30. They are not awful losses in terms of making the tournament, but at least one win would have helped a lot. The next big test comes on Dec. 13 against Ohio State in the Cleveland Hoops Showdown.

Another big topic is how the rotation plays out with Chance Moore getting his first taste of action this season. He scored 16 off the bench against Clemson and added five rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and two steals. He did not make much of an impact against Xavier, however. Hodge only went nine deep in both games, so it is interesting to see how he plans to disperse minutes as the season progresses.
