Logan is set to cover every game in the tournament, including non-WVU contests. It all kicks off Tuesday with a doubleheader. In the first contest, No. 9 BYU battles No. 12 Texas Tech. The winner of that game goes on to face No. 7 TCU, with that winner advancing to face WVU in the quarterfinal round.

Coverage preview

WV Sports Nation’s coverage of this year’s tourney reaches beyond recapping the game. Logan also plans to interview coaches, players, staff, fans, and anyone with commentary who wants to share. It is about more than what goes down on the baseball diamond.

About the journey

Logan is traveling from the Mountain State to the Grand Canyon State, flying more than 1,800 miles each way for the action. He is a freshly-graduated Mountaineer, earning his B.A. this past Saturday.

“I feel very honored to be going to this year’s tournament,” Powell said. “As a lifelong baseball fan and someone who grew up in the state of West Virginia, I feel honored to be selected to cover this event for WV Sports Nation. I, like many others in the college baseball realm, have high expectations for WVU Baseball in the tournament. The Mountaineers bring with them an elite pitching staff with an all-around effective batting lineup. It should be an exciting week for Mountaineer fans.”

It is gearing up to be a high-flying week in Arizona. WVU Baseball plays its first game Thursday, but the action is here.
