The 2026-27 schedule for the WVU Golf team was announced Monday by WVU Athletics. Read more: WVU Golf to host two golf tournaments in 2026-27; full schedule revealed
West Virginia will participate in 11 tournaments ahead of the 2027 Big 12 Conference Championships scheduled for April 26-28, two of which it will host.
The fall season will begin on August 31 with the Mountaineers competing in six tournaments. The other five regular-season tournaments will take place in the spring, beginning on February 7.
WVU will host two tournaments for the third consecutive season. The Nemacolin Collegiate was introduced in the 2024-25 season, while the Mountaineer Invitational is an annual event.
Should the team or any individuals qualify, the NCAA Regionals are scheduled to take place May 17-19 and the NCAA Championships May 28-June 2.
Fall tournaments
WVU Golf will begin the fall season in Bayonne, New Jersey. This is for the New York Harbor Cup from August 31 to June 1. Rutgers will host the inaugural tournament, with eight other teams traveling to compete.
One week later, the Mountaineers will travel to the Island Resort Collegiate in Bark River, Michigan, hosted by South Dakota State from September 6-7. WVU will be the defending champions of the tournament, claiming the team title at 55-under par this past season.
After a couple weeks off, WVU will travel to a familiar site, Independence, Minnesota, to compete in the Gopher Invitational hosted by Minnesota from September 20-21. This will be the seventh time the Mountaineers have competed in the event.
West Virginia’s fourth tournament of the season will be its first host tournament, the Nemacolin Collegiate in Farmington, Pennsylvania, from October 5-6. WVU will also be defending champions, as it has won the only two team titles in its existence.
The following week, the Big 12 Match Play Tournament will return from October 12-14. For the first time, it will be held at The Country Club in Salt Lake City, Utah.
To close the fall season, WVU will travel to Hawaii and return to the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational in ‘Aiea, O’ahu. It takes place from November 4-5. It will once again be the defending champions winning the team title this past season, shooting 21-under par.
Spring tournaments
To kick off the spring schedule, WVU will compete in the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Dorado, Puerto Rico, for the first time since 2024 from February 7-9. UNGC will serve as the host team of the tournament.
The Mountaineers then return to another familiar course the following week for the Battle at Briar’s Creek in John’s Island, South Carolina, from February 15-16. The Mountaineers were scheduled to compete in the tournament this past season, but it was cancelled.
One month later, WVU will compete in the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia, from March 19-21. The tournament is hosted by Georgia Southern, and WVU competed in it this past season as well.
The following week it will compete in another tournament hosted by the University of Charleston, the Bulls Bay Rodeo Intercollegiate in Awendaw, South Carolina, from March 28-30.
The Mountaineers will close the spring regular season with its annual Mountaineer Invitational. It takes place at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia, from April 12-13. WVU has won this tournament four times.
Season preview
WVU golf head coach Sean Covich will lead the helm for his 13th season.
In the 2025-26 season, WVU won three team titles, finished in second once, and finished in third three times.
Additionally, two WVU golfers won individual titles in the 2025-26 season. Ryan Leach (Island Resort Collegiate) and Kaleb Wilson (Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational) took home top honors.
WVU Golf finished in 15th place in the Big 12 Golf Championship and in eighth place at the NCAA Marana Regionals this past season.

Leach, along with Brody Burgess, Aidan Dortch, Jack Michael, Gabe Schmitz, Harrison Thompson and Nick Turowski will return to the team this coming season.
Freshmen Hogan Blais, Major Ewing and Michael Shivers will join the team.
