Highlighted by a Halloween showdown against in-state rival Marshall, the Mountaineers will play 17 regular-season games, alongside three exhibition matches.

To Get the Season Started

WVU will get its season underway on Aug. 8 at Georgetown in the first of three preseason matches. Four days later, the Mountaineers will host Montgomery College. They will wrap up preseason play against Robert Morris on Aug. 16, which will also be played at Dick Dlesk Stadium.

The Mountaineers will officially start their season with back-to-back home games. Manhattan will be the first contest on Aug. 21, then La Salle will travel to Morgantown to take on the Mountaineers on Aug. 24.

WVU’s first regular-season road test will have them facing a Big East powerhouse, the Akron Zips, on Aug. 29. The Zips, who went 12-5-4 last season, will be a good early-season test for the Mountaineers.

The early-season test doesn’t end there: The Mountaineers will take on a 2024 NCAA Tournament team Gardner-Webb, at home on Sept. 3. They’ll follow up with another challenge against 2024 Atlantic 10 champion George Mason on Sept. 7.

The final non-conference bout before league action gets underway will have the Mountaineers taking on California Baptist on Sept. 12 at home.

Conference Play Begins

The defending Sun Belt Conference champions will open conference play at home against James Madison on Sept. 19. A quick break in Sun Belt action will have the Mountaineers taking on the defending Big South champions High Point, on Sept. 23.

WVU will then take the long road trip to Orlando to face the UCF Knights on Sept. 28 to continue conference action. They’ll return to Morgantown to play Georgia Southern on Oct. 4, before another road conference showdown against Coastal Carolina on Oct. 10.

The Mountaineers will conclude their non-conference schedule on Oct. 14 when they host American. They’ll then head south again to square off against Georgia State on Oct. 18.

Following that road trip, the Mountaineers will take on another Sun Belt foe at home against Old Dominion on Oct. 22. They won’t stay in Morgantown for long, hitting the road again to face Kentucky on Oct. 26.

Arguably, the biggest game of the season, the Mountain State Derby, will take place in Morgantown when WVU takes on Marshall on Oct. 31. This will be the 29th installment of the bitter in-state rivalry, with the Mountaineers leading the series with 17 wins.

WVU will conclude its regular season with one last road trip, taking on South Carolina on Nov. 4.

As always, dates, times and locations are subject to change. Information about tickets for all 2025 home games will be announced at a later date.
