The Details
Of the 11 games, only four will be played somewhere other than the WVU Coliseum. The Mountaineers only have one true road game scheduled, and three are on a neutral site.Â
The lone road game is the non-conference finale at Texas A&M. Neutral site games include a showdown at the Greenbrier Resort against Duke and two games in the Baha Mar Championship.Â
The Opener
WVU will open the 2025-26 season at home on November 3rd. The Mountaineers will welcome Purdue Fort Wayne, a team coming off quite the season in 2024-25. The Mastodons will try to spoil the first game of the season for the Mountaineers, but WVU is tough to beat at home.Â
The Mountaineers went 16-0 at home this past season. Combine that with Mark Kellogg’s first season at the helm in 2023, and WVU is 30-2 at the Coliseum since his arrival.Â
Both West Virginia and Purdue Fort Wayne are coming off postseason appearances. WVU made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and PFW appeared in the WNIT. The two programs have only played each other once, when WVU prevailed in December 2014.Â
Kent State
For the first time since November 29th, 1988, WVU women’s basketball will share a court with Kent State. The Mountaineers have won seven of the 11 all-time meetings, as the two squads were frequent foes between 1978 and 1988.Â
According to WVU Athletics, the teams even played each other twice in one week during the 1979-80 season. The series is renewed, and the next chapter will unfold on Friday, November 7th.Â
Temple
The Temple Owls will fly into Morgantown on November 11th, in hopes of avenging last season’s loss to WVU. Temple used to be a mainstay on West Virginia’s roster, playing 32 times between 1981 and 2024. WVU has dominated the all-time series, winning 26 of the meetings.Â
WVU holds a 14-4 record at home against Temple, including the past two times the game has been played at the Coliseum. The Owls will attempt to win their first game in the university city since February 12th, 1994.
Duke
Circle your calendars for this one. On November 14th, the Mountaineers and Blue Devils will meet at the Greenbrier Resort. The neutral-site game will be the first time WVU leaves home for a contest in the 2025-26 season.Â
The Mountaineers will try and get their first win over the coveted opponent, as they have lost both games in the series. Duke took both games in a home-and-home series between 1995 and 1996.Â
Appalachian State
The “other” Mountaineers come to town on November 20th. A special 10:30 a.m. tip-off time is set for the annual Education Day game. This is arguably the loudest crowd of the year for the women’s basketball team, so Appalachian State might have a tall task ahead.Â
WVU is 2-0 against Appalachian State, with wins in 2012 and 2022.Â
Baha Mar Championship
It’ll be turkey time in the Bahamas for the women’s basketball team. Opponents have not yet been announced, but the Mountaineers will play two games. The game days are set for November 24th and 26th, respectively.

Final Home Stand
December kicks off with a trifecta of home non-conference games. The Mountaineers will play host to Villanova, Mercyhurst, and Georgia Tech.
Villanova is 18-12 against WVU in the series. WVU is 1-0 against Mercyhurst and 2-1 against Georgia Tech.Â
Non-Conference Finale
The non-conference portion of the 2025-26 women’s basketball schedule will conclude with the lone true road game of the bunch. WVU will travel to the Lone Star State to face Texas A&M on December 14th. The Mountaineers defeated the Aggies in Morgantown this past season.Â
Final Wrap
With 11 games and nine opponents now known, the women’s basketball schedule is filling out. Luckily, the Mountaineers host the majority of the non-conference games in a venue where they are quite dominant.
