“The Season Before the Season”
After a full summer of preparation, the final tune-ups for the Mountaineers will take place between August 8th and August 16th. WVU will face Georgetown, Montgomery College, and Robert Morris, respectively, in the preseason exhibition bouts.
Please note that the scores of the exhibitions are not kept on record, but will be displayed during the game for fans in attendance to view on the scoreboard. Two of the three exhibition matches will be played at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown, home of the reigning Sun Belt Conference champions.
Before the two matches at home, though, the Mountaineers must first travel to the nation’s capital to face Georgetown on August 8th.
Exhibition 1: Georgetown University
Nestled close to the Potomac stands Georgetown University, a private college that boasts academic prowess and moderate success in the realm of sport. The Hoyas have quite the men’s soccer program, as the squad went 11-5-5, won the Big East tournament title, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
Georgetown won the NCAA Championship in 2019 and has appeared in the coveted tournament every year since 2017, making the Hoyas one of the premier programs in men’s soccer at the collegiate level.
WVU has struggled mightily over the years against Georgetown, as the Hoyas lead the all-time series 14-7-1. Luckily for the Mountaineers, this one doesn’t count.
Exhibition 2: Montgomery College
Montgomery College is a junior college located in Rockville, Maryland, three hours east of Morgantown. The Mountaineers will welcome the MC Raptors to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. on August 12th.
Montgomery is coming off a successful 2024 season in the junior college ranks, finishing the year with an outstanding overall record of 13-1-4. The Raptors were especially impressive on the road, winning seven out of eight matches away from home.
According to WVU Athletics, the two teams have never battled in the regular season, and that statement will remain true for at least another year as the Mountaineers and Raptors share the pitch for an exhibition bout.
Exhibition 3: Robert Morris University
The Colonials have already been mentioned on the WVSN website, but in a different sport, as RMU will travel to face WVU on August 30th for the football season opener. For more on that matchup in American football, check out the related article.

The RMU men’s soccer squad will travel to Morgantown for the final exhibition on the Mountaineers’ schedule. The match is set for a 6 p.m. first touch on August 16th. WVU has dominated the all-time series, at least in games that count, leading the series 15-6.
This third exhibition for WVU will be the last chance for the Mountaineers to face an outside opponent before the start of the season.
Tune In
It is currently unknown whether or not the slate of exhibition games will be streamed anywhere. However, game times are set. The match at Georgetown is set for August 8th at 7 p.m. in Washington, D.C. The next two matches will be played in Morgantown at the dates and times listed above.
