The Mountaineers finished the regular season with a 24-6 overall record, with a 14-4 posting in the Big 12. WVU is seeded below only TCU, as the Horned Frogs (27-4, 15-3) swept the old gold and blue this year.

Coverage

Trent and Santana are set to bring you live updates on X (@_wvsportsnation), immediate recaps and insight, and exclusive game photos. All photos and articles can be found right here on WV Sports Nation.

“I’ve always been passionate about women’s basketball,” Withrow said. “So being able to combine my love for photography and women’s basketball is a dream. This team has had an outstanding season.”

With the No. 2 seed in the tournament, which starts at 12 p.m. EST Wednesday, WVU has the benefit of a double bye. The Mountaineers do not play until Friday, March 6, with an opponent yet to be determined.

WVU’s quarterfinal bout is slated for a 6:30 p.m. EST tip-off. If they advance, the semifinal and championship game times are almost set.

Semifinal action for WVU would take place at 6:30 p.m. EST on Saturday. The championship is scheduled for 5 p.m. EST on Sunday, but would move to 4 p.m. EST Monday if BYU were to make the title game. For reference, the Cougars are the No. 9 seed.

The field

The 16-team field posts a daunting task for any team to go the distance, but WVU has two extra days to prepare. The Mountaineers are three wins from securing their second Big 12 tournament championship (2017).

“Look for this offense to explode in the tournament,” Conner said. “They are averaging 88 points per game and shooting 47% from behind the arc in their last three games. They’re a tough out if they shoot that well behind an elite defense.”

Top-seeded teams include the aforementioned TCU Horned Frogs, WVU, Baylor, and Oklahoma State.

As it is laid out, WVU’s quarterfinal opponent is set to be the second round winner between No. 7 Iowa State and their opponent (winner of first round game between No. 10 Arizona State and No. 15 Arizona).

WVU took care of business against all three teams listed in the paragraph above.
