Head coach Mark Kellogg teased the announcement in a press conference on Tuesday. He said, “We will have a top-10 opponent at the Greenbrier in November.” He also included that the schedule is about “92%” done.
He added that they could play Ohio State, Alabama, and Minnesota in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship in the Bahamas over Thanksgiving. They will also travel to Texas A&M, while Temple, Georgia Tech, and Villanova will travel to Morgantown.
Nonconference and Conference Schedule
The Big 12 Conference unveiled the schedule for the teams recently. The Mountaineers are going to play a home-and-away series with TCU, UCF, and Cincinnati. They will also play Arizona, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Houston in Morgantown. WVU will travel to face BYU, Utah, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Colorado.
The final AP poll from last season came out on April 6, and WVU ended the season ranked 21st. Their team will look drastically different this season, but Kellogg expects it to be one of his deepest teams since he has been in Morgantown.
Of the teams on the upcoming conference schedule, TCU (6), Kansas State (13), Baylor (18), and Oklahoma State (24) finished the season in the AP Poll. Duke finished the season at 7th in the polls, while possible opponents Ohio State and Alabama finished at 19th and 20th, respectively.
